What is golden hour you say? Well, it is the BEST time to shoot outdoor sessions! It is when the sun is close to the horizon, its light appears warmer and softer...shortly after sunrise and just before sunset. Us photographers also call it 'magic hour', because the light just makes magic (in conjunction with our photographic skills and happy frolicking families).
I know the time may not sound appealing to parents of young ones, but trust me, it is worth the possible tanty. I suggest to my families to spoil themselves with dinner either before or after the session to make the timing even more worthwhile. Although it is called 'golden hour', you usually only have a time frame of half-hour to 45 mins of perfect lighting before you lose the sun...this is usually enough time to keep the kids interested also.
Here are some images from a recent family photo session for Mother's Day out at RedHead Beach with a gorgeous family in which the little one has quite the character!
These family sessions are relaxed, fun and easy. I guide you with some posing but let the moments unfold naturally. A variety of locations are offered too, and if you have a favourite spot, let me know, we'll make it happen.
